The team that is fielding tries to prevent the batting team from scoring runs by catching the ball, putting the batter out, and by preventing the ball from reaching the boundary.A cricket match is divided into two main parts: innings. Each team gets to bat and field for one innings each, unless the match is stopped early due to rain or some other reason. An innings is divided into overs, with each over consisting of six deliveries of the cricket ball.

The batter's job is to hit the ball as far as possible, while also trying to avoid being caught out by the fielders. The fielders' job is to catch the ball and put the batter out. If the ball is not caught, the batting team can score runs by running back and forth between the wickets.There are several ways to get a batter out, including being caught, bowled, leg before wicket (LBW), run out, and stumped. If a batter is caught, he is out if a fielder catches the ball before it touches the ground. If a batter is bowled, he is out if the ball hits the stumps, or the three vertical poles that support the bails, behind the batter.

 

·       If a batter is LBW, he is out if the ball would have hit the stumps if there was no batter in the way. If a batter is run out, he is out if a fielder hits the wickets with the ball while the batter is running between the wickets. If a batter is stumped, he is out if the wicket-keeper, who is the fielder who is closest to the wickets, takes the bails off the stumps while the batter is out of his crease.

 

·       Cricket has several formats, including Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches. Test cricket is the longest format of the game and is played over five days. ODIs are limited-overs matches, with each team batting for a maximum of 50 overs. T20 matches are the shortest format of the game and are played over 20 overs per team.
